If you want to change how you react to high-stress situations, you cannot start by trying to change your behavior.
That might sound counterintuitive, especially if you are used to forcing outcomes through sheer willpower. But if you are constantly getting triggered by family dynamics, office politics, or high-pressure negotiations, your behavior isn’t the problem…it’s actually the symptom.
To actually change the way your system operates, you have to understand a fundamental, biological truth: The energy comes first.
It took me a long time to realize this. And to really get it. At a deep level…everything is energy. We can’t see it…but if we look for the right things, we will see the effects of it and its patterns.
The Mechanics of a Decision
There are studies that show the timeline of how a decision (or reaction to stress) is actually made in the brain.
Imagine you have to choose between tapping a red button or a blue button. Scans reveal that signals fire within your brain, indicating that a decision has been made, seconds before you are consciously aware of the choice. Isn’t that wild?!
The subconscious energetic pattern is set before your logical brain ever gets a say. That is what I mean when I say “the energy comes first.” And here we are as humans trying to think or talk our way out of deeply-rooted behavior patterns…we’re simply working at an ineffective level.
If your system is wired with the “red button” energy (the pattern of frustration, reactivity, or chronic stress), you will continue to choose the red button. You can tell yourself you want to choose the blue button. You can analyze why you keep choosing the red button. You can even pay a therapist to help you understand the history of your red button choices. (Sound familiar at all? …it certainly did for me).
The same thing happens when you’re triggered by something or a stressful event…your underlying energy has already decided how its going to react to the situation.
But until you learn to physically release the energetic tension associated with that red option, your system will default to it. Its a simple concept for sure. And I wish it was easier to do in practice. After years of looking for the best tools, I’ve put what has been most reproducibly affective for me into my Mindworx method. Its been amazing to watch others transform their lives as well when they are equipped with the better tools.
A Case Study: Releasing the Friction
I recently worked with a client, a high-performing professional who was deeply enmeshed in a high-drama family dynamic. Whenever he was around them, his system would get triggered. The friction was negatively affecting his relationships with his father, his sisters, and his own daily bandwidth. Not to mention women that he was trying to date.
He was the typical “nice guy” around all of them. His sisters would steamroll his and his father’s ideas and wants. Things were not in a good, happy, engaging place…they were just very “meh” and “it is what it is”.
When he started my program, we didn’t do any of the things you might expect.
- We didn’t analyze his family’s psychographics.
- We didn’t diagnose anyone with a disorder.
- We didn’t try to change his behavior or practice add in any coping mechanisms to manage the situation.
Instead, we worked entirely on his subtle energy…what’s really driving the show under the hood. We identified the energetic tensions his body was holding when he was around his family, and he simply learned how to release it. On the calls after that he couldn’t stop saying “dude my natural responses are changing…this is crazy…this is so unusual for me!”
He followed the instructions, released the bound energy, and his entire operating system shifted.
The Power of an Upgraded System
Once that energetic bottleneck was cleared, the behavior pattern collapsed on its own. Its that simple.
He was no longer triggered. His responses to his family changed naturally, without him having to force it. He wasn’t reacting from a place of bound tension anymore; he was finally operating with the clarity to make the choices he actually wanted to make. Instead of defaulting to the “red button” of stress and drama, he could easily see and choose the “blue button.” And not only that…it happened naturally.
When you try to change your behavior without clearing the underlying tension, you are just fighting your own hardware. But when you learn that the energy comes first, and you master the ability to release it, you reclaim the power to operate at your true capacity.
There isn’t so much a need to self-diagnose and brute force your way to make changes in your life…instead, try to see the invisible, and realize that there is a deeper layer involved that you might not have tapped into just yet.
tldr: To effectively change reactions to high-stress situations, one must focus on underlying energetic patterns rather than superficial behavior modification. By releasing energetic tensions, individuals can naturally shift their responses, leading to healthier interactions without forced effort. Recognizing and addressing these foundational energies is crucial for personal transformation and reclaiming one’s true potential.
